On 19 June 2012 the NSW government introduced a bill which after passing with the approval of the Shooters Party and Christian Democrats in the upper house in less than 72 hours DRASTICALLY amended the workers compensation legislation and reduced the rights of workers.
These changes are retrospective and will have a major impact on the entitlements received by injured workers regardless of their date of injury.
Taylor & Scott Lawyers have spent enormous time reviewing and digesting these complex amendments to determine how injured workers will be affected.
To assist workers and their families understand these changes we have summarised the major amendments so that everyone can begin to understand how these new changes will affect injured workers.
Obviously not all claims will be affected in the same way. It is therefore essential you contact Taylor & Scott Lawyers if you have further questions or concerns about how these changes may affect you or your family.
It should also be understood that at this time the new amendments have not been tested in the courts and therefore there is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding the amendments and how they will be implemented. Moreover Workcover have not yet released certain guidelines referred to in the legislation.
