Am I entitled to workers compensation if injured on my way to or from work?
A worker is only entitled to claim workers compensation for injuries sustained on a journey if there is a real and substantial connection to employment.
Workers injured on their way to work may be able to pursue a claim under motor accident insurance if involved in motor vehicle accident or under a public liability claim depending on how the accident occurred.
The requirement for injuries to have a real and substantial connection to employment doesn’t apply to police officers, paramedics, firefighters or volunteer firefighters or emergency and rescue volunteers.
